About the Shinco SPU2 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner
The SPU2 is the largest Shinco portable air conditioner: 14,000 BTU by the ASHRAE test and 10,000 BTU by the DOE seasonal test, for a room up to 700 square feet. If you have a family room, a studio apartment or a basement den that the central system never quite reaches, this is the unit for it.
It cools, dries and runs as a fan at three speeds, with a swing louvre and a 24-hour timer. It is rated at 57 dB. The body stands 32 inches tall and 18.5 inches wide on four casters, and it runs on a standard 120-volt outlet.
You can pick white or gray: the two are the same machine. The 59-inch hose and the sliding window kit come in the box.

Is 14,000 BTU too much for a small room?
Often, yes. A unit far larger than the room cools it in short bursts and switches off before it has pulled much moisture out, so the room feels cold and clammy. For a room under 450 square feet, look at the SPF2 or the SPF1 first.
Does the SPU2 plug into a normal outlet?
Yes, a standard 120-volt wall outlet. Plug it in directly: no extension cord and no power strip.
